H12 · Handakuten
Goal: read 3 words with handakuten (゜): ぱ ぴ ぷ ぺ ぽ.
Before you start
This lesson assumes what you saw in the earlier ones. If something feels shaky, go back to it:
New kana
- ぱpa
- ぴpi
- ぷpu
- ぺpe
- ぽpo
The small circle (゜) only goes on the H row and turns it into p.
Look at their shape and reading. If in doubt, check the dakuten section of the hiragana chart.
Trace practice
Go over the shape with your finger, mouse or a stylus. It is free practice: it does not count towards passing the lesson.
Words
You practise them in kana; underneath you can see how they are usually written.
- えんぴつenpitsupencilUsually written 鉛筆
- さんぽsanpowalk, strollUsually written 散歩
- しんぱいshinpaiworryUsually written 心配
Practice
Two rounds: first you read each word and type its romaji, then you pick what it means. No romaji on screen.
Reading in context
A short text written only with the kana and grammar you already know. Read it and answer.
