IN12 · Health and medicine

Goal: learn 9 words and phrases for hospitals and treatments.

Before you start

This level assumes the elementary level and elementary grammar. From here on, words are in kanji with their reading above; in the reading round you'll see the kanji alone.

This lesson assumes what you saw in the earlier ones. If something feels shaky, go back to it:

What you learn

にゅういん (go into hospital) and たいいん (leave hospital) are built with 院, as in びょういん. As in にゅうがく (enter a school), 入 means «enter».

Words

You practise them in kana; underneath you can see how they are usually written.

Practice

Two rounds: first you read each word and type its romaji, then you pick what it means. No romaji on screen.

Reading in context

A short text with words and grammar you already know; kanji carry their reading above. Read it and answer.

A message from a colleague:

先週せんしゅう 手術しゅじゅつを しました。あした 退院たいいんします。
