Hiragana · lesson 16 of 16

H16 · Particles は, へ, を

Goal: read 2 phrases with は, へ, を as particles.

Before you start

This lesson assumes what you saw in the earlier ones. If something feels shaky, go back to it:

What you learn

As particles, は is read wa, へ is read e and を is read o. We split the words in romaji so each particle stands out.

Trace practice

Go over the shape with your finger, mouse or a stylus. It is free practice: it does not count towards passing the lesson.

Phrases

You practise them in kana; underneath you can see how they are usually written.

Practice

Three rounds: you read each phrase and type its romaji, pick what it means and complete the phrase with its particle. No romaji on screen.

Reading in context

A short text written only with the kana and grammar you already know. Read it and answer.

A message from a friend:

きょうは やすみ。わたしは いえへ いく。ほんを よむ。

  1. What kind of day is today?

  2. Where does the speaker go?

  3. What does the speaker do there?
