IN17 · Science

Goal: learn 10 words and phrases for school subjects and the scientific method.

Before you start

This level assumes the elementary level and elementary grammar. From here on, words are in kanji with their reading above; in the reading round you'll see the kanji alone.

This lesson assumes what you saw in the earlier ones. If something feels shaky, go back to it:

What you learn

Careful with かがく: 科学 is science and 化学 is chemistry; at school 化学 is sometimes called ばけがく to tell them apart. Subject names often end in 学: すうがく (maths).

Words

You practise them in kana; underneath you can see how they are usually written.

Practice

Two rounds: first you read each word and type its romaji, then you pick what it means. No romaji on screen.

Reading in context

A short text with words and grammar you already know; kanji carry their reading above. Read it and answer.

A student talks about his favourite class:

物理ぶつりの 授業じゅぎょうで 実験じっけんを しました。おもしろかったです。
