IN19 · Feelings and people

Goal: learn 9 words and phrases for feelings and getting on with others.

Before you start

This level assumes the elementary level and elementary grammar. From here on, words are in kanji with their reading above; in the reading round you'll see the kanji alone.

This lesson assumes what you saw in the earlier ones. If something feels shaky, go back to it:

What you learn

Many feeling words take する: かんしゃする (be grateful), そんけいする (admire), けんかする (quarrel). しんじる is a -ru verb: しんじます.

Words

You practise them in kana; underneath you can see how they are usually written.

Practice

Two rounds: first you read each word and type its romaji, then you pick what it means. No romaji on screen.

Reading in context

A short text with words and grammar you already know; kanji carry their reading above. Read it and answer.

A pupil talks about his teacher:

先生せんせいを 尊敬そんけいして います。

  1. How does he feel about his teacher?
